Davidson County Agricultural Fair, Lexington
The third week in September is the official beginning of fall in Davidson County. For generations, residents have strolled through the Exhibition Hall at the County Fairgrounds to see the finest hand-crafted items, baked goods, canned vegetables and flowers. Youngsters are eager to ride the newest rides and check out animals in the barns. Sponsored by the Lexington Kiwanis Club since the mid 1940’s, this event is one of the few truly agricultural fairs left in the state.

Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Bluegrass Music Festival, Denton
The Denton FarmPark in southern Davidson County is host to one of the premier family-style bluegrass festivals in the US, featuring bluegrass and bluegrass gospel, including the host band Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. You can camp under the shade trees and listen to good ole' bluegrass music or bring your own instrument and pick with a group in the campground. The festival offers a free children's area on Saturday with pony rides and inflatables. Enjoy shopping the arts & crafts and instrument and supply vendors. Everybody's Day Festival, Thomasville
Begun in 1908, this is the longest running festival in North Carolina and is held yearly on the last Saturday in September in downtown Thomasville. The festival includes over 200 food and juried craft vendors, 3 entertainment stages and games and rides for children.

Easter Parade, Welcome
North Carolina’s only Easter Parade began in Welcome in the late 1990’s. This annual Saturday parade features lots of hats, rabbits, Easter eggs, and symbols of the faith community. In a county known for its barbecue, it’s not such a long stretch to think that the symbol of weather predictions would be a pig. In this case, it is a pot bellied pig named Lil’ Bit. Begun in 2004 as part of Uptown Lexington’s wildly popular “Pigs in the City” project, Lil’ Bit has been correct in her weather predictions each year! Memorial Day Parade and Celebration, Thomasville

Southeast Old Threshers’ Reunion, Denton

Tour De Kale, Denton
Begun in February 2000 as a way to raise funds for Kale Watkins’ medical expenses, this bike ride has become an annual event to help others in southern Davidson County. Over 400 riders begin and conclude their ride at the Denton Farm Park. Their path takes them through beautiful rural Davidson County with scenic bypasses and challenging rolling hills. Six courses from a 110k to a 5k fun run and walk lets even those who would prefer to keep both feet firmly planted on the ground participate. Events also include a Friday night 5K ride and a 120K Summit Challenge that is one of the steepest climbs in the piedmont! Held yearly on the third Saturday in May.

Uptown Lexington Christmas Open House, Lexington
