Davidson County stands at the southern gateway to the Yadkin Valley Wine Appellation, one of the United States’ newest federally designated viticulture regions.   The region encompasses seven North Carolina counties, boasting over 20 wineries, and is situated on rolling hills; picturesque countryside and acres of land that once grew tobacco but now produce grapes.

Childress Vineyards
and the Shoppes at Vineyards Crossing

As you drive through the gates to Childress Vineyards, you are immediately transported to another place in time.  The rolling hills, acres of grape vines and Italian Renaissance-styled winery seem far away from Davidson County.

NASCAR team owner Richard Childress invites you to visit his signature winery, Childress Vineyards in Lexington. There you can taste world-class wines crafted by award-winning winemaker, Mark Friszolowski, take a guided tour of the wine making process, and enjoy a picnic lunch from the Bistro.  Be sure to save time to browse through the winery gift shop!

During the summer months, on Saturday and Sunday you’ll find live music on the Terrace overlooking the grounds of the winery.

The complex now includes the Shoppes at Vineyards Crossing and coming soon…The Inn & Restaurant at Vineyards Crossing.

Weathervane Winery
Winemakers Sid and Miranda Proctor create wine in a manner that has been proven over the centuries…by hand, ensuring you the best taste.

Often asked about the name of their winery, the Proctors explain that it comes from the huge influence the weather has on wine production – from grape development to the final stage of fermentation!

Weathervane Wines are available for purchase at Tastings (312 East Center Street, Lexington), Yarborough’s Restaurant (3 Marco Blvd. , Lexington), other retail outlets throughout the area, or by appointment at their winery.
