The region encompasses seven North Carolina counties, boasting over 20 wineries, and is situated on rolling hills; picturesque countryside and acres of land that once grew tobacco but now produce grapes. Childress Vineyards NASCAR team owner Richard Childress invites you to visit his signature winery, Childress Vineyards in Lexington. There you can taste world-class wines crafted by award-winning winemaker, Mark Friszolowski, take a guided tour of the wine making process, and enjoy a picnic lunch from the Bistro. Be sure to save time to browse through the winery gift shop! During the summer months, on Saturday and Sunday you’ll find live music on the Terrace overlooking the grounds of the winery. The complex now includes the Shoppes at Vineyards Crossing and coming soon…The Inn & Restaurant at Vineyards Crossing. Complimentary admission Often asked about the name of their winery, the Proctors explain that it comes from the huge influence the weather has on wine production – from grape development to the final stage of fermentation!
